Well here we are again on our annual ski trip to Japan. For 2026, we decided to change things up a bit. Club Med Sahoro has been our ‘go to’ for 3 years and we’ve loved it, but it was time for The Travel Bees to escape the kids club vibe and head to a 13 years and over resort. We are growing up!
Thus far, Club Med Kiroro Peak has not disappointed. On every level, this place rocks! The snow, the food, the entertainment, the people, it is exceptional. The Travel Bees and their friends are in heaven. Even me I hear you ask?
Well ……. you know what they say, when the kids are happy, Mum is happy 😊 and when I don’t have to cook or even think about what to eat or where to go, I can begin to relax and even enjoy skiing a little (I know…. amazing!).
This time we are here in a group of ten and more people equals more fun! Six snowboarders and four skiers. All at different levels. On day one, some went for lessons, some were winging it and others seemed to just slide in where they left off last year. One thing is for sure, this place caters for all of us.

The day finished with achy bodies, lots of story sharing and loads of smiling. There was only one thing that didn’t make it through the day….
As some of you will know, we were recently surprised and excited to find a pair of Mr Bee’s ski boots. In their day (some 30 years ago!) these boots were top of the range, with all the bells and whistles. I tried them on, they fit well and appeared to be in good condition.
It turns out…… not so much.
As I came in at lunch time, tired but quite proud of my efforts. I felt like the biggest novice when my boots did not release from the skis. As I became more agitated and started giving them a bang, black plastic/rubber began to litter the pristine white snow. That’s when I realised, I was not the problem, it was my thirty year old boots!
After a few choice words, no option but to flop down in the snow, instructor’s confusion, exclamations of “well I’ve never seen this before!”, hire staff being alerted and sheer brut force. I was released!
My worst nightmare almost came true…… I thought I was going to have to ski everywhere for the rest of my life!!

Fortunately my new friend Hugo in the ski hire shop has me sorted with new boots and will kindly dispose of the old ones!!
On the bright side, there is now room in my case for shopping!!
TTB
Hot travel tip 1: Do not bother lugging 30 year old ski boots half way across the world. They will likely disintegrate and embarrass you!
Enjoy the shopping that will fill that space in your suitcase xx
