December Challenge Day 5

Today was a bit of a weird one. It was a day I was determined to ‘get things done’ but for some reason got very little done. Frustrating!

  1. Something I learnt today: It is International Volunteer Day! I never knew it existed, although these days there seems to be a ‘day’ for everything! After my blog yesterday it felt exactly right that it should be volunteer day today. So, thank you to all those tireless volunteers I have around me and that touch my life. You are all very special and I hope you too enjoy the sense of achievement, pride and belonging that I do when I give my time to worthy causes.
  2. Something I am grateful for: Good friends. I feel lucky that I have friends around me that I can bounce things off and share the way I am feeling. Being able to talk to someone really is the best medicine. You know who you are!!
  3. Something I want to improve: My ability to give and receive compliments. I really suck at this. If someone says ‘I like that dress on you’ I would say ‘I got it from Kmart’ (or wherever). What I should say is ‘Thank you’. It doesn’t really matter where it came from, whether it was cheap or expensive. Their point is, it looks nice. I have a friend who always compliments. I love that about her. It lifts me up and most likely lifts her up when she gives them. I am going to try to do this more often.
