Milanesia Gate to The Gables – Great Ocean Road walk, Victoria

Today was dubbed ‘the roller coaster day’ and it lived up to its name. It was rare to find ourselves on flat ground. Instead we were either climbing up or heading down.

I am exhausted, but proud to say I made it!

Summary:

Distance: 18.5km

Vegetation: mixture of coastal scrub, forest and valleys of subtemperate rainforest. Beautiful.

Animals seen: One Koala, a white lipped snake, a huge Eastern Grey kangaroo, black wallabies, a deer, cows

Black toe nails: 7

Blisters: many

Achy sore people: 4

So, tomorrow the four achy and weary walkers embark on the final leg into the 12 Apostles. The celebrex is out, the magnesium doses doubled.

Even if they drag me by my hair, the A and B team will get me to the end.
