So, here we are back at Club Med Sahoro for our third time. Arriving, it almost feels like coming home. The rooms are familiar, the slopes are familiar and many of the faces are familiar.
One of the things we enjoy the most about Sahoro, is meeting the instructors from all over the world and many return year after year. Some we have kept in contact with, others are surprised to see us.
One particular instructor was keenly looking forward to our arrival. Patrik is from Slovakia had taught Miss 14 snowboard last year. It seems she was one of his best and most memorable students. We have shared lunch and dinner with him every day since we arrived. Although Miss 14 isn’t keen to take lessons this year (she’s too good now), Patrik is desperate to teach her. Tonight he gets his chance, he has free-time and there is night skiing. I hope they have a ball.

I know you must be desperate to know what I have decided to do this year 🤣🤣. We all know, skiing isn’t my favourite pastime but I came on so much last year, it would be a waste to lose those skills!

Well, for day one, I stuck to my trusty companions, the snow shoes. I joined the 2pm snow trek, which weirdly, I had never done here. We trekked across the mountain a short way to visit a small waterfall. It was so peaceful and pretty. I enjoyed every minute. But, it was just too short for me. It was only a 40 min trek and I felt I could walk in the peace and quiet for hours.

Unfortunately, Sahoro isn’t the best mountain for trekking and not the sort of thing you can do alone. So, with that ticked off, day two was a chill-out day reading and sitting in the Canadian tub. Devine. Until a bunch of kids ruined my peace.
That evening, I just knew there was nothing I could do, I had to succumb. With fresh snow and a bluebird day forecast, what could I do?? I had to ski.
So, here I am, having survived a whole day skiing. Not only that….. I am pretty much at the level I left off last year. But, don’t you worry, I am not cocky and I am not silly. I am still anxious on the higher slopes, so will be taking things easy.
The most amazing thing is, when I hired the skis, I am no longer classed as a Beginner!!! I am officially at Intermediate level. Go me!
