Swan Valley – Perth WA

It’s been a while since I wrote, but unfortunately sometimes you just gotta work and The Travel Bees are working hard saving for the next big trip.

Luckily every September, we get a small interlude in the humdrum for football country week. Always a roller coaster of emotion, this week has been no different. There have been many injuries and things haven’t always gone our way, but the girls have stood tall and done us proud.

With Mr Travel Bee coaching, we stayed close to the team in the Swan Valley. This has been a great area to explore and between games we have been out and about.

Day 1, the obvious place for the Bees to start was The House of Honey and Sticky Spoon Cafe. This family run business is fabulous to taste and learn about the benefits of bees and honey. Tasting their raw honey and meads, it is virtually impossible not to buy. The only problem is which one?!

After enjoying a delicious Reuben sandwich and coffee for lunch, we decided to go with the red gum honey and mulberry mead. As I sit writing, the mead is going down well and the honey pot has a significant dent in it.

Next we explored the beautiful lower hills and Bells rapids, enjoyed gelato at Sub Zero before heading back to watch another game.

Days 3, 4 and 5 saw us visit Maison Saint Honore for delicious macarons, Taylor’s in the Valley for coffee, Whistlers for chocolate, Morish for nuts, Mondo for nougat, Spice in the Valley for curry and Gardens of Guildford for a lovely catch up with friends.

Needless to say, this hasn’t been good for the waistline but we have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this area rich in local produce.

Not sure why, but for some reason we missed the wine tasting!! Guess we’ll have to come back next year!
