Baby turtle release – Bintan, Indonesia

The Travel Bees have been super lucky to experience the release of 75 baby turtles here on Bintan. Twice a year Green and Hawksbill turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. At Club Med, that happens all along the beach including on the beach volleyball court, and under sun-loungers.

To prevent unsuspecting holiday makers from damaging them, wildlife carers come along and rescue the eggs. They incubate them until hatching, then release them back into the sea.

This only happens in March and September and the Travel Bees just happened to be here for the second-last release of 2023. It really was very cool to watch and I wish I could find the words to describe the way these tiny little guys flapped their way down to the beach. They knew exactly where to go and how to get there.

Dude

Once they hit the water, it was quite a sight to see their little heads pop up for air as they swam through the lapping waves.

And then they were gone….

Dude’s friends

I do believe it was something the family will remember forever.
