Club Med Bintan Island – Indonesia

We have made it to the lush and relaxing paradise that is Bintan Island. Only a short 55 minute ferry ride from Singapore, Bintan is a destination low on travel stress. Arriving at Changi airport (in my experience, the best airport in the world) everything is easy. From collecting baggage to passing through immigration, it is smooth, friendly and efficient.

From there you can choose to stay a night or two in the city, as we did, or head straight to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, located very close to the airport. A short cruise across a calm Singapore Strait and you arrive in paradise.

And waiting for you, are many of these…..

Now……… I know in my last blog I said this was all about relaxing and this would not be our usual adventure type holiday. However, at Club Med you cannot just sit by the pool all day. Although tempting, there is so much on offer including; yoga, snorkelling, kayaking, sailing, swimming, tennis, golf, waterpolo, volleyball, badminton, archery and much much more. In fact, you could fill your day from start to finish with well planned, safe and exciting activities.

For our first full day on Bintan, the majority of the Travel Bees wanted to take things slow, explore what was on offer and decide where their time might be best spent later in the week.

I however, had already planned my first morning weeks ago; 8am yoga followed by a cold pressed juice in Waterfalls Restaurant and a scrumptious breakfast. And as the waves lapped in the background, the cicadas buzzed and birds chirped, I eased into my first down-dog and knew this was absolutely the best way for me to start my wellness break.

As it happens, the activities didn’t end there. Mr Travel Bee and I also ended up on a snorkel adventure (not much arm twisting for me!), while the kids were sucked into a waterpolo game that by all accounts sounded like a lot of fun.

The rest of the day was indeed spent relaxing by the pool sipping on cocktails and mocktails.

I just know this week is going to fly by far too quickly…..
